SABBATICAL FAREWELL SERVICES & FELLOWSHIP DINNER – Pastor Becky Sunday will be leaving for her sabbatical after worship on Sunday, April 28. We will have a special time at each worship service on Sunday April 28 to offer our prayerful support as she departs on this journey to renew and strengthen her faith. Join us after 10:15 worship for a fellowship dinner to bid her farewell and to welcome our Sabbatical Pastor, Rev. Sam Buehrer. The dinner will feature St. Paul chicken and rice casserole and green beans. You are invited to bring table service and a salad or dessert to share. Please sign up in the breezeway if you plan to attend.

FAITH FORMATION NEEDS VOLUNTEERS FOR PARADE FLOAT – In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong’s Lunar Landing, Wapak will be sponsoring a parade this summer, on July 14th.  As the home church of Neil Armstrong, Faith Formation felt it very important to participate. We are seeking volunteers to assist in the creation and building of the float, along with material assistance. There will be an initial planning meeting on Tuesday, April 23rd at 6:00PM in the Ritter Room. Please consider volunteering your time and talent to this worthy project.

 OCWM – FOUR SPECIAL OFFERINGS – One of OCWM’s special offerings is for One Great Hour of Sharing. We contribute with benevolence funds in the month of April to OGHS. One Great Hour of Sharing is conjunction with partner churches and organizations throughout the world, supports emergency and disaster relief, refugee ministries, and human development projects in the United States and across the globe.

 ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS – The adult Sunday school class, facilitated by Mark Vaughn will be viewing the movie “Resurrection” on Sunday, April 28th in the library. This movie is based on a short story written by the Christian author and Minister Max Lucado and is about a Roman guard’s search for the meaning behind the “resurrection of Jesus.” Please feel free to join us this discuss this  entertaining and thought provoking film.


In cooperation with Northwest Ohio Association, Church Council has covenanted with Rev. Samuel J. Buehrer to serve as Sabbatical Pastor. Pastor Sam has deep roots in northwest Ohio. His parents still live in his hometown of Archbold. Sam graduated from Archbold High School, received his B.S. from Heidelberg in Tiffin, and his Master of Divinity from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, Minnesota. Sam was first called to be the pastor of Spencerville UCC in Spencerville, Ohio. After serving there for five years he accepted a call to First UCC in Galion, Ohio, where he served for almost 20 years. During that time, he was pastor to our own Pastor Becky Sunday, who was among his first class of confirmands in Galion. For the past six years, Sam has served as Senior Pastor of Sylvania UCC in Sylvania, Ohio. Pastor Sam enjoys camping, canoeing, backpacking, reading, and singing. He and his wife, Ellen, have two adult sons. Pastor Sam will begin serving the week prior to Pastor Becky’s departure and will conclude ministry among us a week after Pastor Becky returns. Pastor Sam will lead regular worship as well as officiate at special services, will provide day-to-day leadership for the staff, and will be available for visitation and other pastoral needs as they arise.

MECHANIC STREET DOORS CLOSED – The Mechanic Street entrance will be closed the week of April 29th to May 3rd for the cleaning of the floors in Timmermeister Hall and the education wing.
